Guacamole is probably one of Mexico’s best gifts to the world. The creaminess from the avocado and the tangy taste from the lime go well with almost every dish, and despite being easy to prepare, it’s also a dish that is enjoyed by many.
If you’re a fan of Mexican food, here’s a simple Guacamole recipe to follow so that you can have it with your bag of nachos or even rice at home.
Ingredients:
- 2 Avocadoes
- ½ cup of Red Onions
- ½ Tomatoes, seeds removed
- 2 Serrano chillies, seeds removed
- 1 Whole Lime
- A handful of cilantro, finely chopped
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Preparation Method:
- Cut and scoop the avocado out. Smash the avocado until you achieve a smooth texture. Some people prefer to leave in avocado pieces for the taste.
- Minced the red onion, chillies and tomatoes and pour it into the bowl of avocado.
- Mix all the ingredients.
- Squeeze the lime into the mixture. Careful not to mix the lime seeds into the Guacamole mixture.
- Add the salt and pepper to taste and dash the chopped cilantro just before serving.
- Serve your Guacamole in a bowl with your favourite Nachos.
Pro-Tips:
- To make sure you get a creamy Guacamole, make sure you only use ripe Avocadoes. Ripe Avocadoes can be recognised by the soft texture or the dark colour surrounding the pits when buying them.
- You can make your avocado a few hours before serving and leave them to chill in the fridge. You can also keep the Guacamole overnight. However, avoid storing for more than a day as the avocado will quickly turn dark.
- You can replace the lime juice with lemon juice. You can also use store-bought lemon juice or lime juice. It will, however, be less zesty compared to the freshly squeezed juice.
- If you’re not a fan of Nachos, you can also have the Guacamole with your Burrito, Naked Burrito Bowl (Burrito with no tortillas), Enchiladas and even as a spread for your toast.
- Add some salsa mix or paprika powder to your Guacamole to lift the flavour. If you are into extra spicy flavours, add the cayenne powder to the mixture.
- For a breakfast feast, use your Guacamole as a spread on toasts and pair it with a sunny side up.
